In what is a remarkable development, Premier League clubs have voted to close the summer transfer window before the first game of the next season. Wenger told beIN Sports.

Managers including Arsene Wenger had called for changes to be made after several players were left in limbo up to four games into the current Premier League season with this year's window closing on August 31.

Supporters of the shortened window have cited managers' complaints that the deadline arrive weeks after the season has begun disrupts squad planning and cohesion.

Today could mark a significant day in not just Premier League football, but also throughout the game in Europe and further overseas as well.

Premier League clubs have voted and there will be huge changes to next season's transfer window.

. We just hope that other European leagues and the Football League follow suit.

Unconfirmed reports say today's ruling was not unanimous but that the change received the required two-thirds majority of 14 clubs. Clubs from other parts of Europe will continue to abide by the previous system and follow the Federation Internationale de Football Association calendar, which is closure of transfer window on the last day of August. There were some concerns that while they understood they wouldn't be able to buy other players, they also understood their players could still be picked off by those who hadn't closed their leagues. It would also mean that Premier League clubs would not be able to sign a replacement should that situation arise.

"The answer is I think is very obvious", he said. "You get on with the season", the 24-year-old said.

In Europe, they generally run from the start of June to the end of August, with a shorter mid-season window in January. "It would make it uncomfortable going into the first week but most of us would prefer to have it then than what we have now, going into the early weeks of the season".
