The victory completed a successful summer of cricket at home for England, which won test and one-day series over both South Africa and West Indies, and a Twenty20 series over the South Africans.

England have already called batsman Dawid Malan into their one-day worldwide squad following Hales' confirmed absence from the final match of the summer at the Ageas Bowl, where they will be bidding to complete a 4-0 victory. Despite all the Ben Stokes and Alex Hales drama that is surrounding them, England have been terrific at home.

Bairstow's knock, which included 17 fours, was the highest by an England player against West Indies in one dayers, eclipsing Marcus Trescothick's 130 in 2004.

The former West Indies captain continued to go after Ball as he hit two more sixes and a four in the seventh over but was dismissed by Tom Curran (1-62) in the next over. "We weren't anywhere near as consistent as we wanted to be", said West Indies stand-in captain Jason Mohammed. But Gayle then cut loose, hitting 34 runs off just six balls, all delivered by Jake Ball, including four successive sixes, briefly changing the complexion of the game.

By the time Gayle departed for 40, West Indies were 52 for one in the eighth over.

Spinners Adil Rashid and Moeen Ali established impressive control and the tourists went from the ninth over until the 31st over without scoring a single boundary.

The Surrey opener continued his return to form after coming back into the team for the suspended Hales and regardless of his team-mate's off-field problems, Roy looks set to remain in the team for some while on the back of another performance that underlined just why England value him so highly when in form.

Remmers not listed on injury report for Vikings
In the season opener against the Vikings Peterson was visibly upset with head coach Sean Payton after receiving limited carries. Even during his Pro Bowl year (2015), he ranked 33rd among 47 qualified players in yards per carry (4.0).

The Surrey opener was sublime in striking 96 from 60 deliveries, including 12 boundaries, before frustratingly falling short of three figures after he was trapped lbw by Miguel Cummins.

Shai Hope was still in at that stage and the youngster signed off from what has been a breakthrough tour across all formats with another innings of substance, making 72 before holing out to Ball in the 44th over, his side now 221-5.

But it was an innings that helped England, now 156 for one in the 22nd over, to get off to a flier.

Bairstow was also striking the ball beautifully at the other end, reaching fifty in 48 balls shortly before Roy's departure.

Jonny Bairstow hopes to carry his stunning Royal London Series form into this winter's Ashes.

England's next worldwide fixture will be the first Test in Brisbane and Bairstow is confident their batting is good enough, when asked if the batsmen measure up to their one-day counterparts.
