Harvey Weinstein has been fired from The Weinstein Company after allegations of misconduct surfaced this week, according to a statement from the company's board of directors.
The New York Times reported on Thursday that Harvey Weinstein had reached at least eight settlements over almost three decades with women who had accused him of sexual harassment and unwanted physical contact. The actress took to Twitter after Harvey was sacked from the Weinstein Company, sending messages of appreciation to her celebrity friends, including Mark Ruffalo and Susan Sarandon.
Mr Weinstein denied numerous story's claims and called them "patently false" in a statement released by his lawyer, Lisa Bloom.
That statement indicates that five board members on the all-male board of directors, including his brother Robert, made the decision to fire Weinstein.
Following allegations from within the movie industry, long-time Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein has been sacked by the board of his company.

Weinstein Co.'s board was increasingly divided on whether to allow him to remain on the job.
President Donald Trump was asked about the sexual harassment allegations against Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein. His legal adviser, Lisa Bloom, also said that Weinstein deemed all the accusations as being completely false. Among the accusers are the actresses Ashley Judd and Rose McGowan, the latter of whom allegedly reached a $100,000 settlement over "an incident of misconduct that happened when she was starring in Scream", The Guardian says.
Weinstein's inappropriate behavior with women in the last 30 years were publicized last Thursday in the Times.
Weinstein has been skewered widely for defending himself by saying that he "came of age in the '60s and '70s when all the rules about behavior and workplaces were different". That was the culture then. "Not everybody knew. Harvey supported the work fiercely, was exasperating but respectful with me in our working relationship, and with many others with whom he worked professionally", she continued.
