Though Paddock had a stockpile of weapons, he reportedly wasn't an avid shooter and had no criminal history. "I can hear the automatic fire coming from one floor ahead, one floor above us", an officer said.

Las Vegas gunman Stephen Paddock amassed a collection of more than 30 guns, stashing 19 of them in his hotel room - along with hoards of bullets meant for big-game hunting - to unleash his carnage, according to reports Monday.

Police confirmed that Paddock had fitted two "bump stocks", which can be obtained for as little as $99 (£75).

An hour's drive south-west is Las Vegas, where Paddock would check into a 32nd-floor room last Thursday (Sept 28) at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino with at least 10 rifles for a shooting spree that would kill least 58 people and hurt more than 500.

Danley's lawyer, Matthew Lombard, told reporters she was in the Philippines to visit family.

Danley, 62, was rushed through Customs to be questioned by officers about what she knew-if anything-about Paddock's plans.

The presence of other hotel guests in the rooms surrounding Paddock's meant that police couldn't return fire from the ground, he explained.

Danley's attorney released a statement saying she had no prior knowledge of the attack and is fully cooperating with investigators.

Investigation has revealed that Paddock has made elaborate arrangements for his assault.

The report said Danley was married to Geary Danley in Las Vegas in 1990. Although Paddock's motive remains a mystery, police already knew that he meticulously plotted his attack.

"He shot through the doorway and struck a security guard", Lombardo says.

The 47 firearms were discovered after search warrants were executed in Paddock's hotel room at the Mandalay Bay and his homes in Mesquite and Reno, Nevada.

Lombardo said there was still nothing clear about the motivation of the shooter, a 64-year-old regular gambler who owned numerous properties and had no known associations with political, radical or hate groups.

"Assuming she had no role in his actions, the most important thing is any light she can shed on Paddock's motive", said one official, who spoke about the investigation on condition of anonymity. The gunman is also said to have sent his mother a walker as she had trouble walking.

Barbara Magro, of Orange County, California, said "they were getting into people's trucks".

Police said he aimed down and across the street at concertgoers attending the Route 91 Harvest festival, packed with thousands of people.
