Samsung Creates $300 Million Self-Driving Cars Fund

Samsung has accelerated its involvement in automative technology but says it won't be building its own self-driving cars. The new unit will sit within the connected auto business of Harman, an independent subsidiary of Samsung, a spokesman added.
One of the first beneficiaries of Samsung's largesse will be TTTech, an Austrian firm specialising in the software integration necessary for automated driving platforms.
Samsung does not plan to manufacture cars, the company said in its press release. The company also revealed its intentions to invest $300 million in automotive start-ups and technology.

The new HARMAN SBU, which will report to HARMAN's Connected Car division, will work with the SSIC to develop key technologies for safer, smarter, connected vehicles.
